Ryan James DeLaney believes film is more than entertainment, it is a powerful medium capable of transporting audiences, challenging perspective and inspiring action. He approaches every project with this philosophy at its core.
Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, DeLaney grew up training quarter horses and learning the value of discipline and resilience early on. He was a 2008 National Barrel Horse Association State Champion, an experience that continues to shape his grounded, character driven approach to storytelling.
DeLaney began his career in front of the camera, building a successful modeling career that earned him the title of 2018 Male International Supermodel, before transitioning into acting and producing. He studied performance and media in Miami, appearing in projects such as Graceland and The Hunger Games, while developing a deeper interest in storytelling behind the scenes.
His early producing credits include the narrative features Corsicana, directed by Isaiah Washington, and Night Night, directed by Niki Koss, projects that helped establish his foundation as a producer working across independent film and emerging distribution platforms.
Today, DeLaney is an award winning film producer and director based between Los Angeles and St. Louis, and the founder of Mia Film Productions. In 2025, he wrapped production on two feature vertical projects for FOX Entertainment and is currently preparing the release of four feature length documentaries slated for 2026–2027.
His upcoming slate includes Wild Within, following wild horse photographer and advocate Meg Frederick; Louis Chaix A Journey with Purpose, chronicling French professional hockey player Louis Chaix’s record setting inline skate across the United States to raise awareness for Stevens Johnson Syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis; its companion film Behind the Skates; and Spelling It Out: Surviving SJS & TEN, a cinematic educational documentary amplifying survivor and medical voices.
DeLaney is also developing The Runaway of the Outer Banks, a documentary project currently in development.
Known for blending cinematic craft with emotional truth, DeLaney’s work centers on resilience, identity and human connection. His collaborators describe him as reliable, instinctive and deeply committed to stories that matter.
